Aligning the Supply Chain with your Products and Markets: The case for a reference model for Innovation and Product Life Cycle

Product Managers are the internal customers of the Supply Chain Manager. In order to succeed with existing and – more importantly – with new products, the two need tight alignment in both, KPI targets and processes.

Over the past 15 years the Supply Chain Council’s SCOR model (Supply Chain Operational Reference) helped practitioners align and integrate their processes end-to-end, from the supplier’s supplier to the customer’s customer.

With the release of PLCOR (Product Lifecycle Operations Reference) in 2013, the Supply Chain Council extended into the domain of Product Management and Marketing. The combination of both models gives supply chain managers the reference points to align their operations and integrate their processes with those of product and marketing managers. The case for integration is obvious to any innovation-driven organization: Inflexible supply chains can kill innovations right from the start.

This presentation introduces to the PLCOR reference framework, its integration to supply chain processes and what they mean for supply chain managers.

Delegate will learn:

  • The impact of product life cycle on the Supply Chain Management
  • An overview of tactical and operational integration points between Product Life cycle and Supply Chain Management
  • How to use the KPIs, process types, and best practices in PLCOR and SCOR to align operations and drive successful market entries for new products.
